    Career and professional experience

    José Manuel is the founding partner of Walden Estudio Legal.

    Lawyer and Economist. He is an expert in litigation and arbitration.

    José Manuel previously worked as a lawyer at prestigious law firms including Prof. Gómez-Ferrer Morant’s law firm (Emeritus Magistrate of Spain’s Constitutional Court) and Clifford Chance (both in the public law and the litigation and arbitration departments).

    José Manuel has also been head of legal counsel at the global infrastructure group Globalvia Inversiones (Railways Division) where he led the acquisition of Metro de Sevilla (Project Finance Deal of the Year 2014 according to World Finance).

    José Manuel has been member of the board of directors at numerous infrastructure concession companies with both private and state-owned shareholders.

    He has provided legal services in both public and private matters to clients in Spain and abroad from a wide range of industries (infrastructure, energy, insurance, financial sector, services, retail, sanitary) both as part of court cases and national/international arbitration proceedings.

    He is a member of the Spanish Arbitration Club and the Madrid Bar Association.

    He was selected by the international legal directory “Legal 500” as one of the top lawyers in Spain (GC Powerlist Iberia 2016).

    Education, teaching experience and publications

    José Manuel has degrees in law and in business studies and economics from Universidad Pontificia de Comillas, ICADE (E-3). He has also prepared for the official examination to join Government Attorney’s Office.

    He completed a postgraduate programme on energy law at Instituto de Empresa (IE LAW SCHOOL) as well as a diploma in advanced arbitration practice at Instituto de Empresa (IE LAW SCHOOL) and a diploma in urban planning law at the Madrid Bar Association.

    José Manuel has worked as a lecturer teaching procedural law on the master’s degree in private law at the Madrid Bar Association and has also spoken at various legal conferences as well as co-writing a number of legal research books.

    He has a perfect command of written and spoken Spanish and English.
